Fun Friday

The weekend is here at last!  If you’re looking for something to do, the North Shore has a variety of activities to occupy you.  For starters, on Saturday September 19th, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Essex holds their first Salty Dog Day at the Essex Shipbuilding Museum.   Fun for the whole family – including your dog!  I’ll be there for a while, helping out Cape Ann Animal Aid.  Salem celebrates Sophia Peabody Hawthorne’s 200th birthday, 9/19-9/21, in downtown Salem.  Sophia was the wife of writer Nathaniel Hawthorne and was born in Salem, MA.  Not to be missed; the Essex Heritage presents the 8th annual Trails & Sails experience on Sept. 18-20 and Sept. 25-27.  A line-up of hikes, sails, paddles, tours, and adventures throughout Essex County.  For the 21 and older set, try the Salem Trolley’s Haunted Pub Crawl.  Guided tour and tales through Salem’s pubs and bars.  This one sounds great to me;  The Trustees of the Reservations has Family Farm Day at Appleton Farms in Ipswich,  September 20, 10 am-3 pm.  Go for the barnyard animals, go for the pony rides, go pick a pumpkin.  Just go!  So this weekend, as my mother used to say when we were kids, “Get out of the house and play”. Here’s a little puzzle.  Can you identify what place in the North Shore this photo was taken from?  If you think you know, send me an email at...
